Norepinephrine

Mechanism of Action: Strong beta1- and alpha-adrenergic effects and moderate beta2 effects, which increase cardiac output and heart rate, decrease renal perfusion and PVR, and cause variable BP effects

Used:

  • Acute hypotension
  • Shock

Contraindications: hypersensitivity to this product or cyclopropane/halothane anesthesia, hypovolemia, mesenteric thrombosis

Side effects: headache, cerebral hemorrhage, palpitations, tachycardia, hypertension, ectopic beats, angina, necrosis, tissue sloughing with extravasation, gangrene, anaphylaxis
